There is no shortage of restaurants in Breckenridge, however in the winter, be sure to make a dinner reservation as walk-in dining becomes hard to come by.

threefold bakery

Local Chef Matt Vawter (of Rootstalk and Radicato) opened up a bakery with chef-friends from California, bringing fresh sourdough and an ever rotating spread of breakfast pastries (with staples like croissants and morning buns).

baretto 1931

The best espresso in town can be found at Baretto 1931, a 2-counter seat espresso bar on Main Street. If espresso isn’t your style, they’ve also got black tea, chai, and matcha. Friday through Sunday, you can find pastries from Bristlecone Bakery, which is based out of Alma. My recommendation? Get there early enough to get one of the cardamom knots.

clint’s bakery & coffee house

This coffeeshop and bakery along Main Street is also home to a sandwich shop in the back. Year-round we love their affogatos and cinnamon bun rolls. In the summer, they make a mean rhubarb pie.

the crown

People flock to the crown for their morning cup-o-joe and the line can sometimes be almost out the door. It’s not without good reason, though, as they also have a solid lineup of breakfast and lunch sandwiches that aren’t too fancy yet are packed with flavor.

It’s glutinous, it’s delicious, it’s BreckFast. They’ve got a large menu full of breakfast classics and some with their own twist, and in my opinion they are one of the only places in town whose pricing is good bang-for-your-buck.

After a long day on the slopes, Legend’s just feels right. It’s dark, moody, and cozy. This downtown steakhouse gives off Victorian x Western Saloon, serving a refined “meat and potatoes” type of menu and craft cocktails.

the carlin

The Carlin is home to the Tavern Underground as well as the Inn, which is home to four luxury hotel suites right in downtown Breckenridge. When you think of Colorado you probably don’t think of seafood, but The Carlin serves up delicious, fresh American coastal.

Breckenridge is not known for it’s Asian food, but if you’re looking for some, Thai chili 89 Thai Street Food is the best spot in town for that.

the tavern underground

This intimate up-scale pub is below The Carlin and is a great spot for a bit of a quieter date night in town. Their Dynamite Shrimp is in fact, dynamite, and they’ve got comfort foods like Buffalo Chicken Dip, Mac n Cheese, Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup, and a Cheesteak Sub.

Tin Plate Pizza features artisanal style pizza and aims to use as many Colorado-local ingredients as possible. Pies are sized for 1 pie per person, likely with a piece or two to bring home for a late night snack. Their adjacent pizza window, Three Daughter’s Pizza, is a great spot to grab a quick slice when you’re out and about.

Bird sandwiches, cow sandwiches, burgers, and flatbreads. My go-to is the Asian Birdie with sauce on the side, and I rotate between the side of fries and side of coleslaw.

Hearthstone is located in the old Kaiser House, and has a Colorado-ized American menu (think: blackberry elk, Colorado lamb, and bison short ribs).

Aurum serves up a delicious menu of elevated comfort food in a sleek, modern ambiance. Enjoy a prix fix menu, or order a la carte. Portions are generous, and the food fresh.

blue river bistro

Local’s love Blue River Bistro- to celebrate, grab happy hour, or just because. It’s at the beginning (North) end of Main Street where there aren’t as many shops, so it may not be a place you’ll just happen upon while walking around. One time I got a brisket ragu pappardelle, and I think about it daily.

the canary

Located inside the Hotel Alpenrock, The Canary is Breckenridge’s one true speakeasy. There is no cocktail menu here for you to select from, because the bartender will design a cocktail based on your preferences. Vodka, gin, tequila, or maybe whiskey? Sweet, or bitter? Smokey, or fruity? What classic cocktails do you enjoy? Put your trust in them and enjoy!

Probably the most popular bar in Breckenridge, Rocky Mountain Underground (RMU) is home to a skip shop, bike shop, bar, and grilled cheese window. They also make a surprisingly tasty lineup of craft cocktails and host the best bingo night in town.
